Reporting update: status reports from the project’s own data
Reporting is one of those tasks that is always due “yesterday”. The hard part is not writing the update — it is gathering the details: what changed, what is blocked, what was decided, and what each stakeholder actually needs to know.
This update improves how ProjectBuddy writes status reports from the project’s own data in three ways:
- Better signal-to-noise. The AI puts outcomes, decisions and risks ahead of raw activity, so the reader sees first what needs a reaction.
- Consistent structure. The report keeps the same sections from week to week, so stakeholders find each item in the same place every time.
- Safer wording. When the underlying data is uncertain, ProjectBuddy flags the item as a question or an assumption rather than presenting it as fact.
The same data produces reports for different audiences: a short executive summary, a team-focused update or a detailed log for project documentation. You choose the format; the content is not rewritten by hand for each reader.
If you work in a weekly reporting cycle, create a template once and reuse it. We continue to refine the wording of the reports, so that the status report becomes a by-product of leading the project rather than a separate task.
